With the first flakes flying around the Snowbelt, our favorite time of year is fast approaching.  The riding season will be here before you know it (hopefully) and you need to be ready to take advantage of the first solid snowfall.  That means, get out in the garage and get your sled ready to rip.  If you haven’t done it yet, now is the time to get all of your pre-season snowmobile maintenance done. Check out the list below and start ticking off boxes so your sled can be at its best for the season. Grease Everything A snowmobile is made up of a lot of moving parts.  And those parts need to be lubed and greased to be able to operate properly.  Fortunately, greasing the rear […]

We all loved our onesies when we were growing up.  They were all nice and cozy.  And best of all, you only had to worry about one article of clothing.  But as we grew older, we had to give them up to be big boys and girls and wear actual pants and whatnot.  In the snowmobile world, we were left with separate jackets and bibs to choose from.  Wouldn’t it be nice to just be able to throw on a onesie again? Back in the day, the one piece snow suit did rule the roost.  So much so that many of the many sled manufacturers had their own branded offerings.  Whether they were race leathers or made from crude, early textiles, the snow suits of the 70’s were […]

Pushing your sled to its limits up the side of mountain is a thrill that just cannot be matched by anything else.  When you reach the summit, you know that you persevered with everything working against you, especially gravity.  But it’s the times that gravity wins that can provide a rush that you never want to feel.  When the base gives out and you or a friend get caught in an avalanche, your actions need to be quick and calculated. Surviving being buried in an avalanche without the proper gear is like trying to scuba dive without an air tank and flippers.  Without the right gear, your odds of blindly being found in time are not very high.  That’s a risk that many riders take on unprepared, thinking that […]

Here in the Midwest, the snow pack is pretty disappointing so far and even non-existent in some areas.  We got spoiled from last year’s amazing snow totals.  It was the best snowmobile riding that we have had in recent years.  In contrast, this year there are many sleds that still have yet to hit the trails and we are already half way through the season.  But with that said, there is still some riding to be had! There are still places where we can bring our sleds to ride, or you might even be one of the lucky ones to have enough snow to ride on where you live.  In either case, you are most likely not going to find premium riding conditions.  The trails are getting beat down […]
